The UK 1:250,000 VFR Aeronautical Charts are the definitive charts used for detailed navigation by aircraft, helicopters & balloons etc.
Published by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and divided into 8 United Kingdom regions they have a verical limit of information to 5000ft and all charts are supplied with a laminated surface.
This series is constructed on a Transverse Mercator projection, with a vertical limit of 5000FT. To assist users, airspace with a base of FL55 is shown EXCEPT where a minimum ALT in excess of 5000FT applies. If the QNH is below 1013mb, controlled airspace not shown on the charts may be below 5000FT ALT and reference must be made to the Aeronautical Chart ICAO 1:500,000 series to ensure adequate vertical separation. Suitable for slow moving aircraft, helicopters & balloons.
For detailed navigation and area pinpointing the UK 1:250,000 series should always be carried by the pilot or navigator to supplement the UK 1:500,000 series.
